How does an ESP32-C3 SuperMini blink an LED?

The ESP32-C3 SuperMini is a thumb-sized board whose pins work at 3.3 V. pinMode(3, OUTPUT) makes GPIO3 an output, and digitalWrite(3, HIGH) puts 3.3 V on it. Current flows through R1 (220 Ω) and the LED to GND: about 6.7 mA, with 1.5 V across the resistor and 1.7 V across the LED. digitalWrite(3, LOW) brings it back to 0 V and the LED goes off, and the two delay(500) calls give one blink per second. Compared with the same circuit on a 5 V UNO, the current is about half, because the resistor only gets the 1.5 V left after the LED, not 2.7 V. For a brighter LED on 3.3 V, lower R1, while keeping the pin well under its 40 mA absolute maximum.
